CHURCH OBJECTIVES

To be a dynamic – spiritual body – empowered by the Holy Spirit; to share Christ – with as many people as possible in our church - community – and throughout the world.

To be a worshiping fellowship – experiencing an awareness of God – recognizing His person – and responding in obedience – to His leadership.

To experience an increasingly – meaningful fellowship – with God and fellow believers; to help people experience – a growing knowledge of God –and of mankind.; to be a fellowship – which ministers unselfishly to persons – in the community – and in the world – in Jesus’ Name.

To be disciples of Jesus Christ – in our daily living – by emphasizing – total commitment of our lives – personalities – and possessions – to the Lordship of Jesus Christ.

​With his ministry spanning more than forty-two years, Reverend Morris'l. Holmes answered the call to preach the gospel in 1978, and later became pastor of the Saint Paul  Baptist Church in Meeker, Oklahoma,  Mount Triumph Baptist Church in Oklahoma city, Oklahoma and on the second Sunday in October of 1991, God's plan extended to new spiritual horizons and Higher Ground Baptist Church of Oklahoma City.   

From his God-given vision and through his dynamic, unique preaching style and anointed leadership; Higher Ground  has been effective in spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ  and remains committed to the building of God's kingdom on earth through: Exalting the Savior, Evangelizing the Sinner and Equipping the Saints.

STATEMENTS OF BASIC BELIEFS

We, affirm – the Holy Bible – as the inspired Word of God –and the basis of our beliefs; this church subscribes to the doctrinal statement of the Baptist Faith.  

 We, voluntarily – band ourselves together – as a body – of baptized believers in Jesus Christ – who are committed to sharing the Good News of Salvation to mankind.

The Ordinances of Higher Ground Baptist Church – are Baptism and Communion.
